The 12-acre zoo is often found in Kamper Park and was first opened in 1950. Despite its size (small), Hattiesburg Zoo is home to over 85 species of animals from around the world. Hattiesburg Zoo continually impresses visitors. The zoo is split into different sections, which makes navigating it a breeze.

Luckily, though, the Hattiesburg Zoo isn’t one in all those zoos. In fact, the zoo allows its visitors to cook, hold, feed, and learn all much more about sloths by participating in a Sloth Experience.
These fun Hattiesburg sloth encounters begin with a tour of the animal kitchen. From there, you’ll assist the zookeeper in preparing food for the sloths. Once the food preparation is complete, you’ll have the chance to feed a sloth by yourself. Holding a sloth is perhaps the highlight of the experience, though.
The Sloth Experience lasts a complete 45 minutes and is only available on Thursdays and Saturdays.
For a Sloth experience, you need to book ahead. Now after experiencing the Sloth, don’t go. There are tons of things to experience such as the train, carousel, high ropes course, splash pad, and many more.
